PS 1841-53 Irish Group [1] 1853 attractive Masonic Lodge printed cover with imperf 1d red, cancelled with '46' of Ballymena straight-line 'CARLOUGH/[GLEN]ARM' arrival on face; [2] poor opened out 1882 cover from Carrickfergus to Coleraine; [3] 1949 use of 2½d blue KGVI strip of 6 on Parcel label from Belfast to Larne; [4] mss "2½ Paid" on front from Belfast to Larne; [5] two fronts one with Prime Minister cachet the other Dept of Finance cachet. Plus Nov 1974 piece from England to Western Australia with 'DELAYED EN ROUTE/-AIRCRAFT HI-JACK=' on face. [The plane was hijacked at Dubai and flown to Tunisia, The hijackers eventually surrendered, no mail was lost.] Also two WWI Red Cross silk fund raising badges, 1938 Gambia cover to UK, 1935 Canada Silver Jubilee set on piece with first day cancel (12 items)

One of three known examples. Attractive.

1174  1849 (May 3) outer from Warnambool to Portland, marked "Registered", rated "11d" in red, showing scarce framed 'MISSENT TO/[POR]T FAIRY' and, on reverse, crown oval NSW datestamps of Port Fairy & Portland (poor). [Postage was based on distance and for the 65 miles concerned it should have been 8d, so 3d overpaid.
