2001   1903 Vaughan Essay 2d KEVII three-quarter face portrait, value in words and figures, blank tablet at base, in brown-olive with vignette inserted and with a red colour wash, fine. Unlisted in Brusden White. Ex Vestey. [In May 1903, GA Vaughan, the Government printer in Queensland, designed, printed and submitted to the Postmaster-General, Senator Drake, a series of essays depicting King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra for standard Commonwealth of Australia stamp issue.]

2136  1899-1901 Inspector of Police official covers [225x100mm approx] to Brisbane x18 from Cairns, Charleville, Longreach, Maryborough, Normanton or Roma, oval or circular handstamps at lower-left, franked with 4d to 1/8d in multiples of 2d per ½oz letter rate, comprising 4d x2 (one solo) 6d x4 (one solo) 8d x3, 10d x2, 1/- x3, 1/2d, 1/4d x2 & 1/8d, no duplication amongst franking configurations, numeral and/or datestamp cancels, generally good condition. An impressive group.
