VICTORIA

2161  1853 (Dec 19) original contract for J.S. Campbell & Co printing of 2d Queen-on-Throne (SG #19-22) and 1d & 3d Halflengths (SG #23-24) comprising (i) "Bond for printing and gumming stamps" and (ii) "Specimen of gumming" (actually the precise stock utilised for the stamp printings). The articles are signed by James S. Campbell, Rudolph Hackmann & James Fergusson and variously witnessed. This unique and historical contract is the earlier of the two contemporary printing contracts in private hands, and is widely regarded as the more desirable (the other is for later printings of Half-Lengths only). Of great historical & social significance. Perry Certificate (2006). 20,000.00 This lot is no longer available
