1009  1817 Bill of Lading: for goods loaded on the Duke of Wellington at Cape Town for Sydney. The Consignment included 18 pipes (about 126 gallons x18) of rum & 6 pipes (about 92 gallons x6) of Cape Madeira. Import duty of 7/- per gallon was collected by Capt John Piper and paid to the Orphans Fund. A very rare document.

1092  1846 (Dec 28) printed 'On the Service of The Customs/Collector' entire letter used London to Adelaide, fine crowned Paid datestamp in red (15JU15/1846) and arrival datestamp in black showing only the day and month slugs '28DE6' (appears to be poorly printed FREE handstamp). One of three known examples. Central fold beginning to separate.
