507  2½d Indigo BW #9A (excellent centring) solo franking paying foreign letter rate on 1915 (Feb) cover from Randwick (NSW) to New York, addressed to Associated Press journalist Joe McGinn and sent by boxer Jeff Smith, who had defeated legendary Australian boxer Les Darcy on January 23rd at Sydney Stadium to win the World Middleweight title, the cover is handstamped 'JEFF SMITH/MIDDLE WEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD' in violet of reverse. Nice usage item for sport/boxing aficionados.
