VICTORIA - Postal History

668  1864 (Jun 20) inwards cover from England to HB Ford, Cape Otway Lighthouse. The cover was received by the Harbour Master at Williamstown and then forward with the half-yearly supplies to the lighthouse. [Cape Otway was very isolated. Henry Ford was Lightkeeper from 1848 to 1879. Additional notes are supplied.]

Ballarat and To be registered with Melbourne 'Belt & Buckle' oval cancel at left and octagonal 'R', transit backstamp of Brindisi and arrival backstamp, minor blemishes. Attractive.

The card is used by Rev HW Lane whose opinion of the CTO cards was somewhat less than that of modern-day collectors!
