The only recorded date.

1102  1842 (Dec 22) inwards entire from London to Melbourne, fine red oval 'SHIP LETTER/[crown]/JU*7/1843/MELBOURNE' arrival. Rated "3" in black. Presumably carried by hand to Melbourne, by the Captain of the Alicia; content document the sales of 28 bales of wool for £320/8/-.

1103  1849 (Sep 29) inwards letter to Geelong from London. No London markings so carried by ship and posted on arrival in Melbourne on JA*10/1850, very fine oval 'GEELONG/[crown]/JA*11/1850/PORT PHILLIP' arrival. Rated "10" in black. This was a duplicate letter and the original arrived at the same time so endorsed "1/8 postage 2 lets" on face. Also endorsed "Consignee" and "p 'Diadem'". [Part of the "cargo" on the Diadem was 228 orphan emigrants.]
