MOROCCO - Postal History

1523  1943 (Aug 2) cover to New York with 18fr50c franking paying postage (4fr), airmail Casablanca-Lisbon (2fr50c) and airmail to New York (10fr), stamps tied by Casablanca datestamps, Type I 'OAT' handstamp, censor tape & handstamp applied in London. Vendor suggests the mail was routed via London (rather than intended direct route from Lisbon to USA) so that it could be censored for valuable information following the collapse of Vichy regimes in French Africa in late 1942.

Also Japanese 3s, 5s, 10s, 50s & 1en pairs. All attached to sheet and cancelled with Japanese language Ambon cancel of 20.9.22 (the day of liberation 22/9/45). The sheet is signed by Mr The, the postmaster. (22 pairs)
