1645 PS 1840 1d Mulready Letter Sheet: SG-Spec #ME1 (Forme 3, Stereo A35) slightly reinforced, first Sunday usage addressed to Nantwich with red MC and, on the back, cds 'PRESTON/MY10/1840'. Very desirable early date, Cat £16,000+, RPSL certificate (1987).

1646 PS 1840 1d Mulready Letter Sheet: SG-Spec #ME1 (Forme 3, Stereo A69) addressed in London to Regent's Park used on official first day of issue May 6, 1840. Aged, opened out, reduced and reinforced. Red MC and backstamp '8NT/PD/8NT/MY6/1840', plus part black s/ring backstamp same date. Rare first day cover, Cat £18,000+.

1647 PS 1840 1d Mulready Envelope: SG-Spec #ME2 (Forme 2, Stereo A156) with removable adhesion and trivial wrinkles noted for accuracy. Single line 'Strand' receiving office handstamp in black, crisp red MC and backstamp '10FN/PD/10FN/MY28/1840, addressed to Camden Town. A very desirable early date, Cat £1,200+ for May date.

1648 PS 1840 2d Mulready Letter Sheet: SG-Spec #ME3 x2 (one is Stereo A96) fronts only, both addressed to a ChasWhitworth in Herefordshire, one with red MC, one with black MC, latter also arrival red d/arc 'ROSS/MA21/1841' cds. Both have been enhanced, one by simply rebacking, the other imaginatively so as to appear as an envelope. Good looking pair. (2)

1654  1833 (Nov 25) entire letter addressed to 'To the Lord Bishop of Norwich/Norwich' re-addressed to Hereford St. London, superb red (Crown) free datestamp, on reverse markings of Bungay and Norwich. The letter is from Frances Sarah Barlee and is a dispute over ownership/use of a pew in her Parish Church. Frances was estranged from her husband Charles with whom she had numerous disputes and future conflicts. She was imprisoned in Ipswich Gaol for refusing to return to her husband. A fascinating window into the past.
