Viewing Lots

The top section of this screen displays the time, in days hours and minutes, until selling of the lots is scheduled to commence. If you are logged in then your name is displayed. On the right is the auction number and the currency in which the estimates and starting prices are displayed.  While you have no bids registered you can change the currency at any time.  The currency displayed defaults to your default currency on your registration or if you have entered bids then it displays to the currency used for your bids.  If you have entered bids then the currency used cannot be changed as it will only display in the currency of your bidsheet.

The following currency symbols are used:
  • AUD (Australian Dollars – this is the default currency)
  • CAD (Canadian Dollars)
  • EUR (Euros)
  • GBP (British Pounds)
  • NZD (New Zealand Dollars)
  • USD (US Dollars)

The middle section contains a page of lot descriptions in a table.  The Symbols/Abbreviations page provides a detailed account of the description but in summary the different table columns are:

Lot
The lot number for this lot.  If it is in red and underlined then a picture of the lot is available simply double click on the lot number to see the image(s)

Type
This shows whether the item is mint or used

Qual
This shows the overall quality of the item

Description
This provides a full description of the item

Est
This displays the estimated value of the lot in the currency selected in the top section.  The default is in Australian Dollars (AUD)

Starting Price
This displays the current Starting Price of the lot in the currency selected in the top section.  The default is in Australian Dollars (AUD). If no bids have been made on this lot then the reserve will be displayed and an R will be displayed after the starting price.  If bids have been entered then the price at which the item would be sold for if it was sold at that instant in time is displayed. For example if there is a bid of $50 and a second bid of $80 then a starting price of $52 will be displayed. An * after the starting price indicates that the starting price could be affected by conditional bids (e.g limits or alternates). When a lot has been sold the hammer price is shown with Sold after it.  Sold lots are also highlighted in yellow.

Bid
This column will display any bids you have, provided you are logged in.  It also allows you to enter bids when you find a lot that you would like to bid on. Bids are committed when any of the following buttons are selected, Next, Prev or Submit. Pressing the Enter key also commits your bids as it acts as a submit. When Submit is selected the screen is refreshed with the starting prices affected by your bid.  If you have the top bid then the lot is highlighted in green.  A red highlight indicates that your bid is below the reserve. If you see a lot that you would like to monitor even though you do not want to bid on it yet then put a W (for watch) in this field.  This will create a zero-valued bid on your bidsheet so that every time you view your bidsheet you are also able to check the status of the bid(s) you are watching.

The bottom section contains the following buttons.

Submit
This button commits any bids that you have made on this page.  If you are not logged in then you will be taken to the Client Login page first. When the bids have been committed the current page is refreshed with the new starting prices as they have been affected by your bids.

Reset
This button clears any changed or new bids and redisplays the current page.

Prev
This button functions as a submit but then returns the previous page.

Next
This button functions as a submit but then returns the next page.

Total starting price of winning bids
This field displays the current total starting price of all your green highlighted bids.

Total value of winning bids
This field displays the current total value of all your green highlighted bids.  The total value includes any nominated percentage increase or break ties selection. It expresses your maximum financial exposure (excluding add-ons like postage). As such this field enables you to determine whether you are likely to exceed your budget and, if you are, then limits and/or preference order bidding may ensure that you get the most satisfactory result.  If you find that you are not going to be as successful as you would like then clearly you can bid modify your bids by increasing your existing bids or bidding on other lots.

This field allows you to add a percentage increase on all your bids.

This field is used to put a maximum amount on your spending. (add-on charges such as postage will always be additional to this limit.

Credit Card, Number, Expiry & Security No
These fields are used to enter your credit card details. Providing these details with your bids ensure that we can despatch your purchases with a minimum of delay.

We do not store card numbers on the web server and we do not send card information back to you.  We will display “Card Details on File” when we have a valid card on our internal files. Naturally you can always ensure that a specific card is being used by simply sending the details. The Security No is printed on the back of your Visa or Mastercard as a 3 digit number after the last four digits of your card number. American Express cards have a 4 digit number printed on the face above and to the right of your card number.  These numbers have been added for your security as they are only available to some-one who physically has the card. They do not appear on credit card receipts.  This makes it harder for stolen card numbers to be used. Remember that our pages are encrypted for your piece of mind.
